What Is Vibe Teaching? Issue #2

Vibe Teaching — Issue #2

What Is Vibe Teaching? (And Why Most AI Classrooms Fail)

Something interesting is happening in education right now.

Schools, universities, and training programs are rushing to adopt AI.

Teachers are experimenting with ChatGPT.
Students are using AI to write essays.
Developers are generating code with AI tools.

On the surface, it looks like a revolution.

But under the surface, something else is happening.

Most AI-powered classrooms are quietly failing.

Not because AI doesn’t work.

Because the teaching model didn’t change.

AI was added.

But the system stayed the same.

And that’s where Vibe Teaching begins.

The Problem With “AI Integration”

Many educators think they are using AI effectively when they do things like:

• Generate slides with AI
• Create worksheets faster
• Draft quizzes
• Summarize readings
• Write lesson plans

These things save time.

But they do not transform learning.

This is what I call Efficiency AI.

It makes teaching faster.

But not necessarily better.

Students still sit through the same lectures.
Assignments still measure recall.
Learning still focuses on output instead of thinking.

The technology changed.

But the learning experience didn’t.

The Copy-Paste Classroom

The most common AI classroom looks like this:

Teacher uses AI → creates assignment
Student uses AI → completes assignment
Teacher uses AI → grades assignment

Everyone used AI.

Nothing meaningful happened.

Students learned less.

And the system becomes a loop of automation.

This is the AI Copy-Paste Trap.

And it’s one of the biggest dangers in modern education.

So What Is Vibe Teaching?

Vibe Teaching is not about using AI everywhere.

It’s about using AI intentionally.

Vibe Teaching blends three elements:

AI Assistance

Using AI to expand possibilities.

Human Judgment

Teachers decide what matters.

Pedagogical Intention

Every tool supports learning outcomes.

The formula looks like this:

AI + Human Wisdom + Teaching Design = Vibe Teaching

AI drafts.

Teachers shape.

Students think.

Why “Vibe” Matters

The word vibe may sound informal.

But the concept is powerful.

A great classroom has energy.

It has curiosity.

Students feel safe asking questions.

Ideas evolve through exploration.

Good teaching has a rhythm.

A flow.

A momentum.

AI can help accelerate that flow.

But it cannot create it.

That’s the teacher’s role.

Example: AI Without Vibe

Let’s say a teacher assigns:

“Use AI to write a summary of the Industrial Revolution.”

What happens?

Students paste the prompt into AI.

AI writes the summary.

Students submit it.

Learning outcome:

Minimal.

Example: Vibe Teaching Version

Instead, the assignment becomes:

Step 1
Use AI to generate a summary of the Industrial Revolution.

Step 2
Identify three things the AI explanation oversimplified.

Step 3
Ask AI follow-up questions to deepen the explanation.

Step 4
Rewrite one section to improve accuracy.

Step 5
Explain what the AI got wrong.

Now the student must:

• Evaluate information
• Investigate deeper explanations
• Improve the response
• Demonstrate understanding

The AI becomes a thinking partner, not a shortcut.

The FLOW Framework

One way to structure Vibe Teaching is through a simple model:

F — Focus

Define the real learning objective.

What thinking skill should students develop?

L — Learning Activity

Design a task that requires thinking.

Not just producing output.

O — Oversight

Students explain their reasoning.

They reflect on their process.

They show how AI helped or misled them.

W — Wisdom

The teacher interprets learning.

Provides context.

Guides improvement.

Practical AI Prompts for Teachers

Here are some prompts educators can use to design Vibe Teaching experiences.

Prompt — Turn Passive Learning Into Active Learning

“Convert this lecture topic into a discovery activity where students must figure out the concept themselves.”

Prompt — Create a Flawed Explanation

“Generate an explanation of [topic] that intentionally includes three subtle mistakes students must identify.”

This is powerful because it forces students to think critically.

Prompt — Generate Multiple Perspectives

“Explain this topic from three perspectives: beginner, expert, and skeptic.”

Students learn to compare reasoning.

Prompt — Design Reflection Questions

“Create reflection questions that require students to explain how they used AI while completing this assignment.”

Exercise: Transform One Assignment

Take one assignment you currently give students.

Now ask yourself:

Could AI complete this instantly?

If the answer is yes, redesign it.

Try this structure:

Step 1
Students generate an AI answer.

Step 2
Students critique it.

Step 3
Students improve it.

Step 4
Students explain their reasoning.

This small shift changes everything.

The Hidden Opportunity

AI doesn’t just change teaching.

It reveals something important.

Many assignments were never about thinking.

They were about compliance.

Students followed instructions.

Completed tasks.

Moved on.

But now that AI can automate many tasks, we’re forced to ask:

What learning actually matters?

This is one of the biggest opportunities educators have ever had.

A Question for Educators

Imagine a classroom where:

Students explore ideas with AI.
They challenge explanations.
They test assumptions.
They build arguments.
They improve their thinking.

Would that feel different from traditional teaching?

That’s the direction Vibe Teaching moves toward.

Quick Implementation Plan

Try this in your next class.

1️⃣ Ask AI to generate a flawed explanation of a concept.

2️⃣ Give it to students.

3️⃣ Ask them to identify the mistakes.

4️⃣ Have them improve the explanation.

This exercise instantly creates:

• Discussion
• Critical thinking
• Curiosity
• Engagement

Final Thought

AI doesn’t remove the need for teachers.

It removes the value of passive teaching.

The educators who thrive in the AI era will not be the ones who use the most AI tools.

They will be the ones who design the best thinking environments.

That’s what Vibe Teaching is about.
